Paris Likes Food: Pecado Bueno

I pity you.

I pity you and the poor souls who associate themselves with you, because you have yet to discover the mouthwatering goodness that is Pecado Bueno.

Pecado Bueno is a locally-owned Mexican restaurant, which opened up in West Seattle just over a month ago. This West Seattle restaurant actually has an older sister of the same name, which opened up in Fremont a few years back. With the success of the Fremont location, the owner decided to branch out and offer its unique dining experience to the good folks in West Seattle as well.

This is where I come in to the picture.

This blog post marks the first entry of what I have tentatively decided to call “Paris Likes Food”, where I will dedicate an entire post to local restaurants that have been deemed worthy of my endorsement. Let us begin:

After one month of open doors, the West Seattle Pecado Bueno decided it was time to host an official “Grand Opening” event, which included live-music, excellent food deals, and a stretch limo service to shuttle diners between the Fremont and West Seattle locations.

Earlier that day, the executive producer of WG206, Austin, gave me a call and informed me of the event. He told me there was going to be food…….and then I hung up on him.

Austin was probably also going to mention that it was an excellent story for my blog, since this restaurant is a local endeavor whose owner is heavily involved with the community and local charities…but I was sold the moment he said “food”; so I immediately hopped on my bicycle and pedaled as fast as my tiny Asian legs would allow.

And I am certainly glad I journeyed over to Pecado Bueno on that fine day. Upon my arrival, I was kindly greeted by the restaurant manager, Jake. Jake told me a little about Pecado Bueno’s dining and service philosophy.

And I refuse to share those details with you, because a magician never reveals his secrets.

I just realized that neither Jake nor I are magicians….so I guess I can tell you a little more about the restaurant. Pecado Bueno is a casual Mexican-style eatery that is focused on providing a comfortable dining experience for the whole family. A unique aspect of this particular venue is the spacious outdoor patio, which has enough room to hold dozens of patrons as well host as live-music on occasion. “The Islanders”, a local steel-drum band, provided some rhythm to the evening with their infectious beats. The patio walls are decorated with inspired artwork, and the table-top fire-pit completes the inviting atmosphere.

Oh, and their food is also exquisite.

And the price tag won’t burn a hole in your wallet either…..unless you set the price tag on fire and then place it inside your wallet.

I would generally advise against that.

Most dishes fall between $7 and $14 at Pecado Bueno, and they also offer plenty of happy-hour deals on both food and drinks.

Speaking of drinks, I’d like to give a special shout-out to my personal hero, Raphael. I ordered a “non-alcoholic mango colada” from him……..and he didn’t even make fun of me for it.

That, my friends, is quality service.

On top of that, the colada was delicious. For those who actually like alcohol in their alcoholic beverages, Pecado Bueno’s full bar and skilled bartenders can concoct whatever your heart desires……assuming that your heart desires something that they are able to make.

Which is most things, so don’t worry.

I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner of the restaurant, James Schmidt, who told me about Pecado Bueno’s unique advertising strategy: They don’t have one. James decided that instead of spending extra money on marketing, they would let the restaurant’s tasty food and quality service speak for itself. This decision also allows them to donate their would-be advertising funds to local charities.

That is a beautiful decision.

Back to the food. I ate a lot of it.

I was particularly fond of the pork nachos. You could taste your cholesterol rising with each and every bite….but it’s totally worth it.

But the happy hour special, 99-cent fish tacos, is what really stood out. These simple, yet delectable concoctions made me instantly forget any guilt I harbored after watching Finding Nemo.

You’re delicious, Nemo; that’s not my fault.

In conclusion, the food is amazing, the atmosphere is inviting, and the West Seattle neighborhood is a delight….so you have no excuse not to dine at Pecado Bueno.

As a whole, I give this venue a rating of 4.6 Paris’s.

Thank you for reading. I like you all more than Flavor Flav likes being able to tell the time.
